Prayer: Preserve me in Your Word O Lord

Lord,

Your Word is the power of life. Divinely inspired, given in love and hope for Your children, it teaches according to Your will and desires. It is a blessing that You have preserved throughout the generations that wisdom and truth may guide and strengthen our faith in the hope of Christ Jesus.

Yet I am not always faithful to it. I do not study it as I should, taking the time to learn not just the knowledge but praying also for the wisdom that it holds. I do not always spend the time delving into it as I should with a heart given to Your heart, a mind that seeks nothing more than to learn Your ways. I do not always abide in the love that it teaches and commands. I do not always trust in the promises that it holds. All too often I rely more on myself in this world than I do in the sacred Scriptures. I do not always stand for it as I should, proclaiming its truth even when it is difficult and the world around me challenges it.

Strengthen me therefore in Scripture, O Lord. Give me a heart that seeks after You, that seeks to live in and according to Your Word and Your Will. Lift me, surround me with the power of Your Spirit that I may have the courage to make a stand, to proclaim Your Gospel message, steadfast in the truth that You have revealed unto me in love and hope for my salvation. I give myself freely to You that Your Word will be made manifest in my life, as a testimony to the peace and the redemption that You offer. Move me, guide me, fortify me in Your truth for Your truth is life.

In the name of Your Son, my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You in the Kingdom, one God, world without end, Amen.
