Prayer: In my worries O Lord

Dear Lord, Heavenly Father,

For as much as I try to escape it, I am captive to my worry. It just seems like there are times when, for as much as I may try to put it behind me, it is always there, weighing on my heart and mind as it burdens me, taking from me the peace that I long for as I find it so difficult to let go.

But you, O Lord, are a God of mercy and hope, a God of love who cares for and uplifts His people. Ever present and ever faithful You never would never forsake Your children, nor would you forfeit or surrender them to the struggles and the despair that they face. To know You is to give witness to the salvation that comes through Your Word, for even as we were lost in sin, You gave Your beloved Son for us and our redemption. What power, what strength then do the troubles of this world hold compared to You, O Lord, as You break our bondage and set captivity captive.

I lay my worries and my burdens at Your feet. I lift them to You that I may lay them at Your feet. Grant unto me Your peace as I take refuge in Your boundless mercy. Take my troubles and my worries and cast them from me. I trust you. Take me and surround me with the power of Your Spirit that I may know the comfort and the rest that only You can bring to me as You show me a better path and a better way to a future in Your faith according to Your righteousness.

By Your grace, and not of my own works I shall cast all worry and doubt from me as Your goodness and mercy fill me O Lord. Praise be Your Holy Name.

In the name of Your Son, my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You in the Kingdom, one God, world without end, Amen.
